I work in the Sales Department of a major publishing house. (I’m not using my employer’s name in my blog to reinforce the fact that all opinions expressed are my own and not those of my employer . . .)
After many years of selling books to retailers and wholesalers, and then a few more years as a regional manager (supervising others who were doing my old job), for the last few years I’ve been the “Manager of Sales Analysis” - which means that I create reports, do some data mining, and sometimes act as the informal “IT” department within Sales. It’s a fun gig, because it combines many of my interests: books, databases, programming, and helping others do their jobs more efficiently.
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, music, photography, and travel.
